Weeds, diseases, insects and abiotic stress caused by weather and soil conditions are issues that weigh heavily on every grower, every year. Assessing crop stress during the growing season is best done with scouting — estimating overall crop damage by recording the presence and severity of different forms of stress. These estimates are used to make management decisions by weighing the potential losses caused by crop stress with the cost of managing those issues.
