12 Mar How to Leverage FieldAgent Software this Growing Season
The 2018 North American growing season is here
While the Southern Hemisphere is preparing for harvest, the Northern Hemisphere is gearing up for another successful growing season in 2018.
During the winter months we’ve had the pleasure of talking with agronomists, crop consultants, advisors, and growers from across the country. Whether they are growing corn, soybeans, potatoes, or cotton, the theme is the same: ag professionals are under incredible pressure to make the right decisions faster and take action sooner than ever before.
More technologies, more choices
Like us, you may have noticed an influx of precision ag technologies entering the market, providing an increasing number of options to choose from. Everything from technologies in the cab of your tractor to sensors mounted on drones that collect precise imagery and data.
Today’s growers have an incredible amount of data at their fingertips. Without software to interpret it, it’s nearly impossible to leverage that data and use it to make informed agronomic decisions that will optimize operational efficiencies.
Enter FieldAgent software: a new, more robust agronomic platform
Over the last couple months, we’ve rolled out our newest offering: FieldAgent software. The FieldAgent platform replaces Sentera’s previous software solution, AgVault.
How did we get to this point? As the needs of the ag industry evolved, so did Sentera’s agriculture software. AgVault was a powerful data management solution, but it doesn’t hold a candle to what our new agronomic software platform can do.
That’s why we gave our latest offering a completely new name: FieldAgent. This name better reflects the broader range of agronomic analysis and integration tools, added API connections, and increased data management features and functions.
Ag professionals have spoken: FieldAgent adds value
Since rolling out our new platform at the beginning of this year, Sentera’s FieldAgent software has come up again and again as a tool that adds agronomic value to operations of all sizes.
For those who haven’t gotten a chance to try it out yet, we wanted to highlight some of FieldAgent’s latest features and capabilities that help you increase efficiencies — and your bottom line.
Data you can actually use
A hybrid of in-field and cloud processing, FieldAgent powerfully generates and efficiently manages real-time imagery data products for users in real world applications.
What’s more, we’ve developed numerous API integrations to allow you to use FieldAgent software with nearly any leading digital ag platform. FieldAgent seamlessly synchronizes data with the John Deere Operations Center, and uses standard agricultural data formats compatible with FieldView, SMS, SST, and many other agriculture analysis tools.
Available on any device
The FieldAgent platform includes mobile, web, and desktop components for a seamless flow of data on any device no matter where you are.
We recently launched our completely revamped app, FieldAgent Mobile. Its enhancements offer ag professionals endless and unrestricted flight planning options, a sleek new user interface purpose-built for interactive job planning, in-app crop health map views, and free sign-up.
FieldAgent Web extends the power of the software to any connected, browser-equipped device worldwide.
The FieldAgent desktop client is the most powerful of the three software components and is the central hub for many of FieldAgent’s agronomic analysis tools.
Powerful, new analytics
FieldAgent comes standard with several powerful analytics tools that our customers are eager to use this growing season:
Using data from a visual-band (RGB) sensor, FieldAgent produces elevation maps that show a field’s high and low spots. These maps can be used to streamline a variety of water management tasks: creating drainage or land-leveling plans, designing subsurface drainage, and building variable rate prescriptions.
FieldAgent’s Zone Management tool works with all of our data products and tools (NDVI, NDRE, Population Analysis, Weed Maps, etc.) meaning you can build zones from any available data layer within FieldAgent. Next, use FieldAgent’s simple prescription tool to input application rates based on the management zones built and push that data to your fleet of tools.
FieldAgent’s Weed Mapping capability highlights areas in your field where weeds are growing. The software produces map layers in shapefile (.SHP) format containing precise data on weed locations. This data allows you to reallocate inputs and apply chemicals to only the areas that need them.
Stand Count / Population Analysis
Maximize your yields by making crucial, in-season decisions based on highly accurate data. FieldAgent’s Population Analysis tool gives you insights into every acre’s true population while crops are still at a development stage where you can take action. Results are saved as shapefiles so you can export to planters and other application equipment so you can take action before it’s too late.
Starting in April 2018, FieldAgent software will provide you with free access to unlimited image stitching. Simply upload your dataset to FieldAgent desktop and let the software do the rest. FieldAgent will automatically stitch your images into a full orthomosaic right on your local machine. You don’t even need an internet connection.
