Awards ceremony to be held at AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2023 in Denver, CO 

ARLINGTON, Va. — April 12, 2023 — Sentera has been named as a finalist in the XCELLENCE in Innovation of the XCELLENCE Awards by the Association for Uncrewed Vehicles Systems International (AUVSI). Sentera was selected from a pool of accomplished applicants as one of several finalists. Winners will be announced at XPONENTIAL 2023 on May 8-11 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, CO.  

Sentera’s Direct Georeferencing (DGR) System was named as a finalist due to its category-defining functionality, transforming the data collection and analysis workflow for survey and mapping applications, adding particular value for agronomic leaders seeking to get plant-level measurements.

The DGR System, which launched to the market in October 2022, serves as an add-on technology for mapping drone systems to drive efficiency and simplify workflows for agronomic leaders and surveyors, from image capture to post-processing to data storage. This is due to its high-precision inertial, positional, and range sensors, which, when paired with a capable mapping camera, like the Sentera 6X or the Sentera 65R, deliver accurate geolocation awareness for every pixel in every photo. In turn, it eliminates the most time-consuming workflows previously required to generate accurately georeferenced maps or determine the location objects of interest.   

“The ability to get accurately-located imagery directly from the sensor eliminates the need to survey ground control points or capture the photo overlap traditionally required to generate a stitched orthomosaic,” said Ryan Nelson, chief mechanical engineer, Sentera. “This translates to a dramatic boost in operational efficiency by reducing flight times by up to 60%.” 

“Missions become more efficient with absolute location certainty, which reduces the number of images that need to be captured by as much as 90%,” continued Nelson. “It doesn’t stop there – this technology provides benefits throughout the entire workflow, and in post-processing, can generate maps in minutes rather than hours.”
